what is this game about?

Flip the Future is a game is about developing and transforming a world while donning different personalities. You are creating a world where climate change is impacting world events and you have to keep the global temperatures and equity at the threshold.

The game gives space for the players to choose between what they want and not want to do with world events. It‘s like treading a fine line between caring and not giving a f**k. Your missions are true to your generalised personality type but they have a flavor of drama to reflect real world. Climate change is a wicked problem which doesn’t need a white and black approach to solving it.

The stories and flavor text which are taken from all around the world and also reflective of the makers’ own journey and experience in climate justice.

By using a deck of cards to simulate an ever-changing game space, each play through gives players new synergies between their roles and the stories they encounter along the way.

This game explores the difficult choices policy makers, businesses, and communities face when deciding how to plan for a future that seems like it could flip over at any moment. Each player has a role with secret missions that will force them to balance their own interests as they collectively collaborate towards a completely explored game space; keeping global temperature and polarisation below dangerous thresholds while also keeping money in their own pocket in case the come across a special project they just have to help see through.

• About 40 things (buttons, pebbles, coins, matches, anything!) to use as marker tokens
